OK, my laptop crashed quite a long time ago, and I wnt it back up and running without spending the stupid amount of money it would cost to recover Win XP on a 2004 Gateway MX6708.

This thing has a 512 MB processor and 80 GB of RAM. Anyone know of a very small Linux kernal I could put on it? The previous version was Linux Helena 8 Universal Edition, which is apparently pretty old.

Can anyone help me get it ggoing on a small Linux kernal, or tell me how to recover Win XP from the HDD?
