After just recently watching the movie "World War Z", I thought it might be nice to write a review on it. It's almost 3:00 AM, and I'm feeling independent, so I'll write this.
The movie begins with an odd opening credits effect. It was unique, but it bothered my eyes after a while. After this minute or so long intro, we cut to the protagonist, the father of a family of four. With the mother, and the two daughters. The family is driving in the car, when a traffic jam occurs. The man decides to leave his car to ask fellow people for information on what's going on. Suddenly, one person becomes a zombie, and all chaos breaks loose.
The transition to this part of the movie, total anarchy, was probably the best part. It accurately shows how situations can go wrong, and it shows clear transitions. It doesn't leave anything for you to assume or guess. The protagonist later signs up for an ex-job, hoping to fight the apocalypse.
Now I explained the gist of the story. Now the review
The cinematic display was excellent. The cinematic scenes and transitions were the shining aspect of the movie. For the graphical effects, it truly felt amazing at times.
The plot, however, had holes. For example, one character leaves his weapon somewhere (Fail). In the next shot, all characters have a weapon, despite each one only having one weapon before. Also, the transitions were lacking. Some events just appeared out of the blue, with little to no explanation.
Overall, I found the movie rather enjoyable. The lack of transitions weren't really taking from the movie's enjoyment factor. In a way, they had their own little charm. I would rate the movie 8/10, due to not always being interesting throughout the movie. Some parts were too long, like the boring explanations. Also, the formula for the jumpscare was executed the same way for each jumpscare itself, but it didn't take away from the scare factor. There were about 5 or 6 jumpscares in the movie.
