The DSi or DS+Internet was the 3rd Generation of DS. Its predacessor being the DS Lite, and its successor being the DSi XL. This handheld console had a lot of great potential, too bad many gaming companies didn't see it, so they choose not to add the advanced internet features this console had. Its in the name, 'DS+Internet', so why couldn't companies take advantage of the advanced internet features is because Nintendo had the market when it came to Nintendo Wi-Fi game servers. We would have to wait another 3-4 years until the 3DS came about that we would see games made specifically for Wi-Fi. One great Wi-Fi game for 3DS being Kid Icarus: Uprising. The only games that really had Online Play that worked for the DSi would mainly be the Pokèmon game series starting with Diamond and Pearl in '07, BEFORE the DSi even came out.
This was also the first DS to not feature a Gameboy Cartdrige port. Nimtendo stated that the reason they didn't add the said port is because they wanted to improve the portability of the device.

the blog had interesting facts, but did not go with the title. reading the title, i thought you would have said what you wished was a part of the dsi, rather then just give facts about. interesting blog, wrong title.
The 'i' does not stand for internet. The DS had internet functionality as well. The 'i' represents 'eye,' as in the camera attached. The camera is the main difference.
