Hai der peepz!
If you bother to look at my bloglist you'll see I haven't written anything in about a year. I apologize for that...I lost contact with many of my SDK Friends during that time. To make up for my error of not posting in FOREVER, Here is a simple step-by-step of how to make Pixel Art!
STEP 1: Materials
There are 2 types of Pixel Art that I myself make: One with beads and the other in the game, Minecraft. Both use the same techniques, however using beads is very fiddly and you might have a bit of trouble with them. I find it easier to colour-coordinate my beads for bead pixel art, by separating the colours into separate bowls. In Minecraft, I like to organize the different colour blocks in my inventory = The ones that I use the most go first.
STEP 2 : Starting
So the first thing that I do is try to think of what to build. A perfect starter pixel art is the mushroom from Mario, as it only involves 3 colours. Once you have decided what to build, I find it easy to use a resource picture to build from.
STEP 3 : Outline
The first thing you're going to do when actually building the thing is to get the outline done. It's easy to do this first on most Pixel Arts because when you're done it's just a matter of filling in the blanks. If, by any chance, there are more black dots on the inside of an image you are building (EG: If you were to build Mario, his moustache) then you include that in the outline. It makes things much easier later on.
STEP 4 : The Final Touches
Congratulations! You have gotten pretty close to finishing your amazing pixel art! All you have to do is add a splash of colour. If for example, the pixel art is of lots of colours then use one colour at a time. Also make sure then when you do use colours use ones that connect to each-other to not have a random bit of beads/wool floating in mid-air.
So, if you haven't set your house on fire during this tutorial you've probably followed my tips correctly! Hopefully you can make some nice art to sell to your friends for lots of cash ^ω^
