Flight, and the Joys Thereof
By: Icarus Volare
Wind, flowing over my feathers
Nothing can stand up
To the immense joy I feel
The ground, miles below my wings
Hard, unforgiving
Is the wrath of gravity
Air, all around my sleek form
It is nice and soft
A gift from Mother Nature
Feathers, attached to my wings
Anchored in my back
Are providing all the lift
Muscles, small and powerful,
Thrusting the air down
Pushing me up to the clouds
Bones, honeycombed and very light
And yet strong as steel
Are all the machined girders
Tendons, like steel cables, are stretched
Between aluminum
Beams, ready to move them now
As I fly, I see many
Things, amazing things,
Things you cannot imagine
I dont know if anything
Is real, but I know
That nobody believes me
It may only be a dream
But one things certain:
Flight is the best part of life
