Several years ago, I delivered pizzas, first for Pizza Hut and later for Domino's. Anyone who has done this for an extended period of time will have tons of stories to tell. This blog series will be a combination of my own stories and those of former coworkers.
Pizza, Pizza
Pizza Hut made Halloween fun. For the last 3 days of October, we could dress in costume for a contest with prizes. One coworker dressed as a Little Caesar's mascot, which I suppose was fine because the last of those stores in the area had been bought out by another chain.
This particular Pizza Hut was chaos on Halloween with average delivery times between 80 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the time of the evening rush. Customers were told to expect that long, but they always still complained past 30 minutes.
My coworker got to a house where a grumpy woman answered with a fist ful of money in her hand, like she was about to punch my coworker - or at least yell at him. She looked at him with the scowl; he looked back without saying anything. They both paused in a tense moment, completely silent.
Then he made the first move and said "pizza, pizza." The woman could not hold her scowl, but she didn't want to show that she was about to burst out laughing. During this moment, her husband came up behind her to see who was at the door. She turned around and slammed the fist of money into his hand and said "here, you take care of him."
Pizza Pizza! if someone came to my door and said that I'd laugh. XD even though it's not extremely funny. I would just laugh. To make him/her feel better!
