Bumped to commemorate this historic moment in World Cup history, one year later.
Hello, everyone!
Wow. What an incredible day today was for us soccer fans.
A historic semi-final match was played today in the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Belo Horizonte, in Brazil. One that stands out from any other match this year, and possibly all time in World Cup history. One that is worth talking about.
Today Brazil versed Germany in the first of the two semi-finals, looking for a way to advance to the final match in the World Cup championship. But, Germany stopped them right where they were. And stabbed their souls several times, leaving an absolute bloodshed for a soccer match.
Today Germany annihilated Brazil 7-1, the worst loss in Brazilian history, and the worst loss in the history of World Cup semi-finals. The Brazilians did Nazi that coming.
EXECUTION
The first twenty minutes started out well. Brazil was strong. They were staying on the defensive side more than the offensive side, though, due to strong offensive pummeling offered by Germany. But they were still confident that they could win. It wasn't anywhere near over.
After that, Brazil begun to loosen up a little defensively in hopes of scoring a goal. This was the beginning of the disaster. Germany began to take advantage of the weak defensive side of Brazil, and scored their first goal, at 18 minutes from a corner kick.
Even after the first goal, Brazil's defense was still weak. In fact, it appeared weaker. They continued to make critical mistakes. Alarmed Brazil quickly began to strengthen up it's offense in hopes of a tie before the first half was over, but this cost its defense. Germany once again took over, jacked up it's offense, and scored it's second goal at 22 minutes.
HUMILIATION
The Brazilian fans could not believe it. Brazil could not believe it. Germany was even shocked. The German fans, of course, happy as hell. Brazil started getting extremely worried. They started to play even worse after that, with virtually no effective defense. This allowed the Germans to score their 3rd, 4th, and 5th goals, all within 10 minutes. After this, they seemed as if they had given up.
Each goal was like a brutal stab to Brazil with the biggest knife in the world. The third goal depicted a clear loss for Brazil. The fatal stab into the body of Brazil. The fourth and fifth stabs were for good measure. A "just in case" for the Germans. The last breath for the Brazilians.
Brazil was virtually gone for the rest of the first half. The Germans knew they have booked themselves onto the World Cup finale match. The Brazilians did too. The whole soccer audience was in shock. The first half was over. The scoreboard was GER 5 - 0 BRA.
DESPAIR
So then the second half begun. Brazil knew they had lost. But in soccer, and just like in any other sport, it is always important to try your best, no matter what the score is. Brazil started out much better, with a solid defense and offense. Very well balanced out.
The stadium seemed emptier. Much more silent. Less chanting and cheering. It seemed somewhat unusual at first, but it is pretty much self explanatory. The angry Brazilians had left to go on with their day. While the Germans remained swell and excited.
Anyway, back to the match, Brazil continued to make a run for it. Shooting towards goal several times, but all of them blocked by the unmerciful Germans.
As the minutes quickly passed, Brazil knew they had to score at least one goal to make them seem less embarrasing. They started to panic. This, once again, made their defense suffer. The Germans took over, took advantage of every weak spot of the Brazilians, and massacred them further, scoring two more goals.
FATALITY
The scoreboard was GER 7 - 0 BRA. It was the worst loss ever for Brazil. Beating the 6-0 loss against Uruguay in the World Cup match of 1920. The timer was at 90 minutes. It was over. Or was it?
However, Brazil managed to score a goal at the extra time for the second half. This was a joy to everyone. Even the Germans. Brazil wasn't dead just yet. But then the whistle rang, it was really over now. Brazilians went to tears. It was a horrible sight. They knew they had to leave the World Cup. It was time to say goodbye. The final scoreboard was GER 7 - 1 BRA.
HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?
Many theories suggest different things, but the most accepted one right now is that Brazil wasn't psychologically ready for a soccer match.
They had lost Neymar, the iconic player of Brazil, and an iconic player to the world, in a match against Colombia few days earlier, due to an injury on one of his vertebraes. He was a significant factor in both defense and offense and to the other soccer players themselves. Without him, they were lost. He was somewhat of the brain to the team.
They had also lost Thiago Silva, a significant factor in defense for Brazil, due to two yellow cards he recieved earlier in the championship.
But many say that this was no excuse for Brazil to perform so poorly. Even without these players, they could have stepped it up, and could've potentially won.
Fear, disconcentration, critical mistakes, pressure, and worriness also contributed to the downfall of Brazil.
SUMMARY
Germany played a fantastic game. They very well deserve the spot in the finals. They exploited everything that Brazil had weak, from both defense and offense. Brazil played a mostly fair game, without fake injuries and dives, just to get penalities and score goals. Brazil was really weak and ineffective this match, but that doesn't mean they are a bad team in any way. They should've stayed more calm, worked on its defense, shooked it off, and played a more competent match.
The silence around the neighborhood was amazing XD.
At the first goal, everybody was like "Ohh"
Then came the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.
By the 6th everybody was screaming "GOAL" and by the 7th I heard fireworks and a more intense "GOAL", yes, for Germany.
I thought the world was upside down for a while HAHAHAH.
Only the nationalism blind Brazilians knew we would lose at the first good team, specially after Neymar and the former captain left the team. I was one cheering the other side.
My country all of sudden (like I had foresaw) became blind to all problems we are facing driven by nostalgic times when we used to be the "Football nation". Propaganda ran wild on TV here, because I'm sure you all saw the riots before the world cup; govt was desperate for everybody to settle down, and thats what they did! Panem et Circenses!
Now that its lost, and VERY nicely, I hope people regain some consciousness, kind of utopic that this statement is..
Sport is good, Football is good, but it is not everything. At this point, I'm glad some fanaticism will settle down. Fanaticism is not good, specially for a whole nation.
Oh, the Brazilian team also deserved it for its arrogance. Minus David Luis, he was the only one to deserve pride.
