People are stupid. Why do you have to document any vaguely interesting moment that comes your way? What do you have to prove? That you have friends? That you know how to bake stuff? That you go to school? No. One. Cares.
Except, some people do.
Pretend you're a certain person. You just moved or something. To a nice little town where everyone already knows each other. The outsider. You meet lots of people, make a few friends. You spend your weekends at home, unpacking and laying in bed. You decide to check Instagram. What do you see? People, "friends," posting picture after picture of various get-togethers at the park down the street. "Hanging with my friends."
You ignore the little feelings that are totally uncalled for. They might've thought you were busy, right?
You scroll down a little. Then you see the friends you were forced to leave behind when you moved across town at a party..with all your other friends. Why didn't they invite you? Maybe it was really last minute.
And then you wonder why you're making excuses for your friends.
Or do you really even have any?
Ask yourself this. Why do you post things? WHY do you have to appear as though you're having fun every moment of your life?
I'm a bit of a hypocrite here, as I have Instagram and Twitter and all that. But I'm not claiming anything. I'm not scolding anyone. I'm simply trying to get you to think.
What do social medias really do for anyone? Provide an opportunity to bully? To make your life seem better than others? The only people who care about your fantastic social life are those who mourn their own.
I see where you're coming from, but social media has many more purposes than just "chilling at the beach with all my 100 friends". Take instagram for example (as this sort of seems to be the focus of your blog), most of my instagram (when it's not just the ALS ice bucket challenge) is pictures of people with their families and photos that people are taking of their surroundings.
Your blog seems to have a very small view of what goes on on social media. There's several fandoms, photography accounts, art accounts, etc. It's much much more than just people with their friends.
This is interesting, though. I'd like to see more blogs like this, seeing as it looks like just Waffle King on the bloglist recently.
I agree. It's very efficient having access to Dylan O'Brien's face just through searching his name. So much faster than screenshotting every pan of him on Teen Wolf. I mean, not that I do that. I don't do that.
If you are seeking validation from social media, you probably are pretty miserable with your life and should actively do something to fix it instead of post about it.
I am simply trying to get people to think about something they may not have thought about before. The overall message I was trying for is 'is it worth it,' not 'my life sucks so I'ma write a blog about it.'
