Hello, everyone.
First off, I should mention that I really like groups. I'm in over 100, and I accept every invite, to any group. I'm also a group moderater. When I was last most active in this site, a lot of members who had been previously active in the chatrooms, flocked instead to hang out in groups. They're like chatrooms, but each post is recorded, they have fancy backgrounds, no admins, and ony people you wanted to talk to were allowed. Depending on who you are, chatrooms were very hostile places, plus groups are great for roleplayers. Groups are often overlooked by most, but for a lot of people, they are very useful.
Anyway, here are my suggestions.
· An admin control panel.
It would require two lists.
One for the most recently made groups, and one for the most recently active groups. A list of about ten would do it, but I suppose when the site is more active, a longer list would be helpful.
· A unifying layout.
A lot of people put their group codes into the title, to change the layout of the shoutbox. Although useable, I think it would be nice if groups had a place to put coding for the chatbox in the group's main page, if not a completely seperate page to edit the coding of a group in its entirety.
· Tags.
Like I said, groups are hard to find. Not just for the admins, but for everyone. If groups could add tags, so people could find groups about things they are actually interested in, they would be a lot easier to find in the first place. Of course, the searchbox would also have to be updated to include searches for them.
· Group requests.
A button, under member list, that allows non members to request to join said group. I have seen this suggested before.
· Delete Group.
A while ago, there was a continuous problem of group owners accidentally deleting themselves from their own group. Then the group became unmanageable. So it was fixed by making it impossible to delete the owner of a group, but this also makes it impossible to delete any group. At all. The only way to delete them was by deleting every member, which is no longer possible. Another fix is undoing undeletable creators, and instead making each group require at least two members to co create it, so in case of emergency, the co owner can readd them. This is probably more of a hastle, but it might also cut down on the amount of created groups, which is good. Also, group creatoes like to have power over their own group. It amuses them.
But overall, the easiest fix is one button that deletes a group completely.
· ETC.
There are countless other things I could suggest. Giving groups a BBesque comment thread to discuss things in further depth than the limited text posts of the shoutbox. Giving members a group creation limit. Giving everyone free mice. But honestly? I think I have covered my best ideas as best I could. Now I'm interested in your opinions on these ideas as they stand, or any ideas you guys might have of your own, on groups, or the site in general.
Improvement is a topic that should never not be interesting.
Keep growing, you guys.
I remember being in over a hundred groups, yeah. It was fun. I also accidentally got removed from my group. Anyway, u titally couldn't have thought of any better ideas. I couldn't have thought of these in general. Man, you're good.
I feel the downgrade in quality of chatting abilities in groups isn't worth the "privacy".

People like them for different reasons than people like chats.
Like I said, it's really easy to roleplay there. I don't roleplay, but a lot of people do, or did. You can still see each post for a while. This also makes it the perfect place to brainstorm ideas, as I've done before. TMJ had its own group for that where they worked on stuff and kept data. It worked for Hull, and it works for a lot of people.
Also works as a group pm.
This being said, I don't think it is an alternative for chatting. I think it's an alternative for chatting about a specific idea.
