He tended to spend more time with the neighborhood dogs than with what was left of his friends, who slowly drifted away and began bullying him as well. His free time was occupied with exploring the section forest his father owned for hunting or hanging out on the abandoned warehouse across town, using the decomposing building as his personal hideaway, usually painting or drawing his surroundings in his sketchbook while he was there.
Once he began high school was when things started going downhill fast. Nineth grade was the first year he tried to commit suicide. The bullying had gotten so severe over the past three years that he actually believed the lies they told about him. Halfway through the school year he'd taken off into the forest on his father's property and downed half a bottle of sleeping pills. His phone luckily had GPS tracking on it and when his father called the police of his disappearance, since he normally left a note telling where he was going, they found him and took him to the hospital, just barely getting him there in time.
It was also that year [later obviously] that he experienced his first shift, after he'd been released from the hospital. Unfortunately somewhere between his suicide attempt and his first shift his father had completely lost his mind because once Falmet woke the next morning his father tried to drown him in holy water during breakfast.
Needless to say Falmet was terrified and his newly awakened instincts and strengths helped him to get free of his dad's psychotic breakdown and was able to lock himself in his room. He wasted no time packing his things and took his chances jumpng out the second floor window. It resulted in a broken rib but he was running on adrenaline now as he made his escape, heading across town to his hideaway in the warehouse, resting. A few hours later after he'd gathered his art supplies he was on the move again.
He made it safely, over the course of a week, to a city far north of his original home.
