I first came across this game about 7 or 8 months ago after a few of my friends in a group chat were talking about it. I decided to try it out and I have been playing almost every single day since then. You don't have to have friends to play but it can make the game much more enjoyable.
Vainglory is a multiplayer online battle arena video game (moba) for ios and android devices. It is one of the first majorly popular games of this genre for mobile. Meaning almost anyone with an ipod, smart phone, or tablet can play it.
There are three types of match modes for multiplayer play. Battle Royal in which you get a random character and play with him or her and you don't have any jungle or roam, everyone is just in the lane. You also can't go back into your base during battle royal matches These matches last on average between 7 and 10 minutes. Casual in which you get to choose a character. Matches in Casual normally last 20-25 minutes. In Casual you should try to have a lane, roam, and jungle but this doesn't always happen. The last game mode is ranked which is the same as Casual except it contributes to your rank over the season. Depending on what game mode you are in changes how you may want to build your hero. If you are in battle royal you should care more about strong items are not as much about items that are only useful at low levels.
Vainglory also has teams and guilds which get rewards at the end of each season. Seasons are 3 months long To get rewards you have to play with members from your guild or team in public play.
There are also skins for different heros that can look super cool. My favorite hero is fortress and I have tier 3 skin on him. Skins don't do a lot except make you way prettier.
The only major downsides to this game is that you can use up all of your free time playing it, you can get with people who are trolling and waste your time, and it wastes a lot of battery so be sure to have your charger nearby if you plan on playing for a long while.
