Danny sat on the wooden bench at the park. His hands sweaty, in anticipation of Mie's arrival. He had called texted her earlier today, asking her to come meet him here at around early evening. She payed no attention to his odd request--out of the pure joy she felt, that he had invited her out somewhere with him, alone-- and heartily accepted.
Soon, he saw her approaching, and quickly tried to wipe the sweat from his hands on his pants. He stood up to meet her.
She gave him a big smile in greeting, "Hi Danny!"
Her smile was the most beautiful thing he had seen today, he wished he could tell her, But she might think he was a creep... Or not... He was going to confess to her today anyways. If not today, then when he would ever get another chance to tell her?
So he just ignored any judgements towards himself and told her, "Hi Mie. Nice smile."
She immediately looked down at her shoes-- did he see some red on her face? Nah. It was probably the setting sun, shining on her face.
She gave out a quiet, "Thank you."
Then she cleared her throat and looked up at him, "So why did you ask me to come here?"
Straight to the point. Good. No stalling. He took a deep breath, "I asked you here because I need to tell you something. And I need a serious and honest answer."
She raised her eyebrows, and casually--although her heart was beating so hard it felt like it was about to blow up-- replied, "Alright then."
He tightly closed his eyes, hesitated for a moment, and just let it out. "Mie. I.... I don't know how to say this any other way.... But... I have strong feelings for you. I don't just like you. I... LIKE you."
Mie just stared at him. Was this boy-- the one she had been in love with for as long as she can think of, admitting his love... To her?!?!??
She immediately felt a burning sensation on her face. Was she blushing??? Oh no. He'll see the blush and think she's some creepy stalke-- wait. Why was she worried? He's admitting his love to her! She should take this opportunity to tell him what she feels. After all, that's what he asked of her, isn't it?
..and besides. She definitely did not want to lose this hunk of a man.
She looked deep into his eyes for maximum social performance, "I... I have the same feelings. Ever since I laid my eyes upon you... I've been... In love with you. I'm... I'm sorry if that sounds weird..."
He shook his head, "No! I-I mean. You're not weird at all-- that's not weird at all. See... Because... I also... Have loved you... And still do-- since day one."
Mie looked deeper into his shining eyes-- or where they're supposed to be-- behind his sunglasses, which were reflecting herself off them. She smiled shyly, "I-I don't know what to say now..."
He walked up closer to her and gently wrapped his hands around each of hers. His face was bright red as he smiled shyly, "You don't have to.."
He then gently kissed her beautiful, warm, pink lips.
Her eyes widened in shock. But then, they closed, as she embraced his kiss.
Neither one of them wanted to end it.
The autumn breeze blew against their warm blushing faces.
The setting sun, shining upon them like a spotlight.
This truly-- was a perfect moment.
The end.
For now.
