It's time that I return to the naval base to get a tour from Fubuki~! She was busy with expeditions all of yesterday, so I'll make the best of her time today!
I drafted a quick article about the evolution of the base from info I got from the tour that Fubuki gave me! I've attached it below for future reference~.
In the past three months, the Kurisuka Naval Base has undergone major revisions. Since its inception during the summer of 2020, the anchorage was been evolving to fit the needs of military operations and the kanmusume it houses.
To begin with, the base was simply a small group of buildings. The arsenal, the largest structure then, still resides on its original concrete foundation built out into the sea. Its red corregated steel walls enclose the largest single room in the entire base, dedicated to construction, development of new armaments, and maintenance, among other things.
Right next door is the harbor, which sees nonstop traffic thanks to frequent sorties and expeditions.
"It was just a dinky boardwalk at first," said Fubuki, who was the starter ship, "Seeing the commander wave us off from such a flimsy looking thing was amusing."
The harbor has since then grown to accomodate at least 36 ships at once, and is rather robust in appearance.
Away from the waterfront are the dorms. The large one with a courtyard was part of the base since its construction, and it houses all the kanmusume. Unable to track down funds, this dorm has not been expanded to house more people. Nearby is the male dorms, where all workers from the arsenal as well as other aides rest. It was constructed soon after the start of the large-scale operation to increase efficiency.
"Commander doesn't sleep there, I think," commented Fubuki. "He is a mysterious man." (seems out of place) (Aoba seconds this)
Behind the female dorms is a small bath house built especially for kanmusu. Beyond a certain threshold, the kanmusu's body begins to take damage, and the bath's water is specially formulated to heal these wounds. (Bucky later told me this is classified information, so I should remove this) "It's a very comfortable place," according to Fubuki, "and they even have a system to allow you to sleep if you're docked there for a long time."
The largest building on base is, of course, the administration building. Its imposing white walls dominate the view of the base from afar, but, surprisingly, the building has its roots as a small brick building, not unlike the bath house. It only had two rooms, which was the admiral's office and a neighboring room used for storage. However, the building was quickly expanded as the scope of operations widened. It recieved its white finish in early August, after expanding to 12 times its original size, thanks to the ever-growing bureaucracy silently running the base. The administration building has barely grown since, but there are rumors that a second floor is to be added.
In many ways, the base's growth is reflective of the skill and talent of those who reside in it. "It's amazing to me that many of those who joined us in the first few weeks have proven themselves to be the most talented on or off the battlefield," remarked Fubuki while gazing to the sea. Who knows what else lies for the future? One thing is for sure, though: this base will continue to carve victory onto the dawn's horizon.
Waa~ now that I read it again, I think I wrote a report on what the base is like and not how it evolved! Looks like I have a long rewrite ahead of me...
We'll see how far I get along with my reading (which is harder than it should be due to RL distractions, unfortunately) tonight, but I'm liking what I'm reading so far!
haha, thanks for that! there's quite a lot to go over, and there's at least 4 more unreleased chapters planned... ugh
i'm just too busy to bother. two are somewhat drafted, other two are ruminating in my mind...
but again, thanks :p

I see...
It'd be nice if my dad actually liked my interest in reading and writing rather than mocking me for it, but at least he's letting me do it, even if he's a bit of a jackass about it. (And my sister is just as rude as he is, BTW.)
In any event, I'm looking forward to reading what you've already written of this series, and once I'm finished, I suspect that I'll be pestering you to write more, lol! (This is probably one of my favorite story series on here, BTW.)
haha, it's all good, then. no shame in liking the creative arts; if anything, you have a leg up on them if you're willing to read and take in information on your own accord :]
and worry not; i'll have more out sooner or later :p

Yeah, that's true, and despite the offensive garbage that tends to come out of his mouth, at least he seems to be supporting my interests, even if he thinks they're stupid and/or misguided.
(Otherwise, I would've never been able to publish that MoD Halloween special.)
that's actually rather nice of him. i guess you are right to be thankful

Yeah, it may be going against his nature to be nice, but he makes an effort to do so, which actually gives the nice things that he does more meaning, in a way. (See, I can put a positive spin on anything, lol!)
