I've seen a lot of Blogs about Christianity now, and I think it's great. Listen to them guys. I'll answer some questions about it here.
How could a "loving God" send people to hell?
There needs to be a punishment for sin. God hates sin. God is still loving. He sent His only Son, who IS God, to earth. In human form. His Son carried every sin of everyone in the world on Him, and died for us, so that we don't have to go to hell. If that isn't love, I don't know what is. Why didn't God just force us to do right? God didn't want us to be like robots. He lets us choose what to do. But God created us. That shoud be enough reason to do right.
Couldn't hell be really cool, with all my friends, and all the sinful stuff that I like? No. In hell, you are in burning hot fire. There is complete darkness. There are worms eating you. There is no one around you. All you can hear is screaming. All you will be able to think about is, "I wish I had accepted Jesus". Last question: How do I become a Christian? Believe that Jesus is God's Son. That He died so that we could go to heaven. Accept his gift. You don't have to do anything else. You don't have to be baptized, go to church, or anything. Just accept Jesus' gift. However, you should lve Jesus enough after that to go to Church, be baptized, etc. Bottom Line: Accepting Jesus' gift is the best thing you could do. Ask me any more questions in the comments.
abrahams bosom means heaven. and yes you are correct, sheol is not technically hell. it is the lake of fire before hell which they go to after the millenium and such
Yes! Hull's got it! While there are many things that suggest fire and other things, (which just add to the pain) the main reason hell is terrible is the eternal seperation from God. No protection, mercy, love, or fellowship from God.
I'd like to quickly interject something about Hell: In many cases, the Bible describes Hell in a metaphorical sense because it is really beyond comprehension, since no living person has seen anything like it. There are not necessarily physical fires, and there is not necessarily physical pain. Those descriptions refer more to the spiritual and emotional pain of damnation. Here is why Hell is so awful: God will not go near the sins and evil in Hell, so anyone there stays in the complete absence of God. Think of how much He blesses people and protects them on Earth. There is none of that in Hell.
The Bible talks about hell all the time! Did you know the one thing Jesus preached about in the gospels is hell? Read Luke 16:19-31. It gives a perfect description of hell.
God gave us free will: That explains why god can't force us (The unbelievers)
[The believers should listen to God]
And hell is not a fire. It could be compared to one. But it's not really a fire. Hell is everything in different to God. (There's nothing but sins)
And when there is nothing but sins. It's.. Well, imagine all that is sin. And you'll get the picture.
And you know that the reason to why you are in church is because you don't want to figure things out your self. And wold like to do it with the "pastor" or other persons. (Church are a gathering of Christians to listen and pray) Anything else is not really... Right
Anyway; you don't need to go to church if you don't want to. But you should be a member of one. Just make sure it's a good church. Some churches are in fact WRONG!
