Hello, Narwhal-San here with the first of a group of blogs telling you what to spend your dsi points on.
I got the idea from The Ram, although I have the feeling he's not the first to think it up.
So, the game!
Doukustu Monogatari (Cave Story) was originally a freeware game availabe for download onto a p.c. . It was a shockingly good game for freeware. Even more so when one found out that it was entirely created by a SINGLE man! One person! So shocking, that the indie game developer Nicalis called to this man, Diasuke Amaya, to renivate a version for the wii!
It took a some 3 years to produce, but they ended up converting it for wiiware. It was a hit. Such a big hit, that they thought it be good idea to manipulate the game moreso to the dsiware. And sucseeded.
And that, is where my review comes in.

Cave Story is a side-scrolling platformer shooter. You start the game in a damp, dark cave with no memory of who you are or how you got there. Venturing further, you find youself in a village with rabbit-like "mimiga" abodes. You set off to find a "sue" who is apparently wanted by the settlers.
Early in the game you come in possesion of a small gun called the polar star. You use weapons to kill enemies, and gain exp. upon defeating them. However you lose exp. when you obtain damage. There is a variety of 10 weapons in the game, all uniqe beyond each other.
Armed with loads of gameplay, an extra unlockable mode, a compelling and well thought-out storyline, emotional bonds with carecters, awesome bosses, and a mobile package, Cave story is a keeper!
For a downloadable title, it is fairly leanthy, and is WAY worth each and every one of its 1000 points it sells for.
Bottom line: It's a must-have for fans of metriod and castlevainia. Also a must for hardcore gamers.
