I noticed my arm was starting to swell that night. I was sent to the hospital block. I went in with not a lack of thought. The hospital block was like heaven. I was under a white sheet, and the doctor examined me. The doctor was a prison Jew! I was sent to immediate operation ; except I didn't know what was happening. I was put to a deep sleep.
When I woke up ; I was able to ask the doctor that I was thirsty, and he got me water. And wait. What happened to my arms, I can't feel them!
He said they were full of pus, and it needed to be removed to have a fully functional arm again. It was just because the nerves haven't adapted. That night... Was a night to recon.
Chapter 8
--Evacuation--
We were all told we were to evacuate that night. So we would be the hardest journey. We were given double rations, and extra clothes. And we all were evacuated. We were all called by block and if you didn't follow, you were shot. If you stopped to rest for a split second, you were shot, or even trampled to death.
It snowed resiliently and we ran all night. I saw about 30 men per hour get shot. It was not a great sight to see.
My friend had a leg cramp, he thought he wouldn't make it. So he slowed down. I told him "No, keep up! Don't..." But it was too late, he stopped. He wasn't shot, but trampled to death. We ran and ran as the night went on. I grew tired quickly ; But without haste, I repeated "No, don't stop ; We are almost there!
Finally, a SS German Officer told us ; You may rest, so we arrived at a Silent town. No one lived here. They were all dead. After tripping on almost 20 corpses, we made it to a building we were told to sleep in.
I ate my ration and went to sleep. Lived a long night.
After morning grew ; we started again, the Same way we left Auschwitz. We made it ; We made it to Birkenau.
