Hello, children and adults of SDK! Jared here with another one of my reviews on downloadable titles. This time: Dark Void - Zero.
~~~~~~~
So, this game, Dark Void, it has an even LARGER history then Cave Story. It all starts at Capcom, in the late 80's. Capcom was shooting out titles faster then Activision once they realized Guitar Hero WASNT a gimmick. So it was pretty fast. Anyway, things were looking good for Capcom. They started on a project for a game called "Dark Rift" (later re-named Dark Void). It was a top notch (at the time) game that featured exellent catchy,bleepy, bloopy music, large amounts of sprites, vibrant backrounds, and a VERY good battle system that includes a jetpack. It seemed to be an Unfailable game.
Until the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Seeing as the NES would soon lose popularity due to the release of the SNES, Dark Rift was shelfed and forgotten.
If you want to know how it came to be on the dsi, however, you should look elsewhere. This is a game review, not a History lesson.
You are Rusty, a Void-Born Human that is soon destined to save the Earth. The Watchers, an alien race, is threatening the planet by invading the solar system through portals. The most stable of these, Portal X, is your objective.
You must destroy it.
You are deployed in the Valley of Doom. This is the begining of your mission.
Gameplay is not unfamiliar to fans of Mega-Man. The real fun lies when you get your hands on a jetpack. This brings the action to the air!
There are multiple weapons and sub-weapons. Some are powerful, some are strange, and some, well, you'd rather avoid.
There are only three levels, but dont stress, they are leanthy and full of stuff to do. Every level has 5 objects, either to destroy, or to collect. There is also 100 power cores scattered throughout each level. There is also three dificulties, for Newbies and Hardcores alike.
At only 500 points, you should not be let down. Dark Void -Zero- gets a...
4/5.
