Here in Louisiana, our wetlands, which we call marshes, have begun to fade. In the past 40 years, 50 miles of marshes have gone completely underwater due to tidal waves. So recently, the government planned another stupid idea, we're going to cut down trees and put them on the shores, as if that'll stop huge tidal waves and save us from losing forests. Yeah. Well, as most of you south-eastern Americans know, there's a huge tropical wave, due to the tropical depression, said to hit from Corpus Christi, Texas to Tampa Bay, Florida. Guess what's in the middle of that?
Louisiana
What ever should I do? Well, me, nothing really, I do live far south, but I live in Coteau (Translation: Slope), which is a high area. But all of you people who are below sea level, I suggest evacuation, don't be stubborn. It's land or your swimming with the fishies. Strap down what you can't bring with, and lock your doors and do something with your windows, bandits are mischievous.
Oh, and HullBreach, Katrina was a big trouble to the government because it hit New Orleans, but Rita was the huge problem, wiped out 3 parishes (counties) and I have an uncle who's rebuilding his 2-story home out of cinderblocks all by himself because Rita sent his home adrift. FEMA isn't supporting him in the slightest bit, so everything is out of his own pay, which he's self-employed, so he doesn't have a job. Yeah. Ruthless.
You'd be surprised. Just about everyone here has a beautiful yard, which they'd gladly spare a home for. They're also extremely ignorant, they will sit in the hurricane whether or not they're told to leave.
I've never understand what genius idea crosses people's minds that drives them to live below sea level in a hurricane prone area. It was a mess during Camille in the 1960s and again with Katrina just a few years ago.
