Welp, after recovering my Black cartridge (which landed on my backyard deck), I went ahead and gave it another look.

No.

I didn't even get to gym 2, and I was DONE.

The theme. Mother of God.

Essentially, the antagonists are a bunch of PETA enthusiasts (Granted, PETA is evil), but they're doing it wrong... so your goal is to teach them how to be PETA? What?

What happened to the classic villain? Seriously, in 1st and 2nd generations, Team Rocket was a legitimate crime gang. They ran the casinos and robbed houses. They were just BAD. In gen 3, Team Aqua/Magma is essentially trying to DESTROY THE EARTH WITH NO REGARDS AS TO ESCAPE. They're crazy like Cobra Commander.

Team Whatever (what are we on now? Clouds?)is evil like a Disney child star. And the game shoves love down your throat the whole time!

That's why I love Ruby and Sapphire so much: It's about the game. You were the only conscience you had, and you chose your own morals. If you thought Team Aqua was mistreating Pokemon, cool. If you didn't want Team Magma to explode the earth, neato. Nobody gave a crap about your motives. You could chill out, beat up some cultists, become the very best (like no one ever was), whatever!

But in generations 4 and 5, it's all about love and companionship. The idea that "Those guys don't care about their pokemon! Their evil!" takes all of the imagination out of the game. It ultimately makes it less of a game about you, and more of a game about how guilty you should be because you didn't love your Numel enough. You monster.

Now, if I remember, there was a small element of "FRIENDSHIP" is Gold and Silver, which was seen a lot more in the remakes, where every turn-around leads to ITS SMILING LIKE A MASS MURDERER. Still, I didn't feel like I had wronged someone when I played it.

So what now? Unfortunately, I don't see the games going back to what they used to be.

Dude, its okay. The thing a lot of people are afraid of is giving their thoughts out over the internet. To be honest, you, Waste Management, and Vermillion are all doing exactly what I had hoped: Give your own opinions on the topic I brought up. In fact, as I progress in Black, I'm also running through Emerald. I'll admit, Black is a decent game, especially compared to D/P/P (4th gen), but I'm having a really hard time with being happy as I play it. One of the really hard parts of reviewing Black is the fact that there's no nostalgia in it, so I lose all the fond memories of the game. I've had my copy of Sapphire since 2nd grade, when it had JUST come out, and I remember SO MUCH cool stuff in it. That makes the transition that much more difficult for me.

That said, I have been taking you guys' feedback into consideration, and one of the things I want to do is get through Black so I can uncover more gameplay elements for myself before I make more of these. Don't worry though, I'll still be just as brutal as before

I will now list the bad guys.
First:Team Rocket I dont know how they manage when they only really sends two people that spend more on their ryhmes than battling.(Excecption)In movies new characters.
Second:Team Aqua/Magma
They are Ok but who runs in a fog filled cave when you steal something?!
Third:Team Galactic
For some strange reason they all like dyeing their hair blue.
Fourth:Team Plasma
Very generic villians that should do their reasearch before storming a museum and take a skull of a Dragonite instead of the white/black orb in the same room.

To Waste Management and Vermillion: I am progressing through the game. This is definitely more about the problems that I see as I progress.

When I say "choose your morals," I mean you choose your purpose. Not to be confused with actions.

Back when Ruby/Saphire came out I believe they let more violent situations be shown, such as in video games or T.V. Like Tom and Jerry, rather violent if you think about it (for a childrens show).

I hd a problem with the "rivals'. They didn't even attempt to make them a rival. One, there were two of them (In black and white), they were your best friends, they showed up every two minutes, and they were pathetic (weak). I miss the good o'l Gary. His "Smell you later," line and his over powered pokemon. He was a good rival and a nice challenge.

The limit only applies on a DS system, on a computer there's no limit, so you could go back and add it in on a computer.

And to add on to what waste said. You should try and finish the game! You're only scratching the surface, and can you really say something is bad without looking at the thing as a whole? "This car has a scratch. It's a bad car." I mean, yeah, that's a loose comparison, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like to me. You're free to do as you please, but I feel you should give the game a chance and then you may criticize it.

As I see where you're coming from, you really shouldn't let that ruin the game for you. It is what it is. Nobody said you had to play it. And hey, you're entitled to your own opinion. I personally loved the games. But that's because I'm more into doing what it takes to beat everyone in the game. The story is a small part of the game.

Uh, you don't even choose your morals in Sapphire and Ruby. You were forced to fight yhe bad guys, thus your "morals" were chosen for you.

In Sinnoh, it wasnt about loving your Pokemon. Elements in the game, maybe, suggested it but so did Pokemon Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, etc. You had to fight Team Rocket so they could stop terrorizing and stealing Pokemon from Kanto. Also, Galactic was about stealing Pokemon's power (energy) so they could DESTROY this planet and make a better on. Pokemon Plasma of Black and White (Unova) had a mission to steal Pokemon to free them from humans (Peta would never steal our pets, like Plasma did to Unova's pokemon) but there is a hidden agenda in the resl enemy's brain.

I could go on forever on all the mistakes you've said but I rather not. Please finish the game or dont say such a dumb assumption of a game you havent even finished half off.

You need to finish the game (beat the elite four once) to fully understand and see who the real enemy is. I don't want to spoil the game for anyone but story wise, Black and White beat every other Pokemon game. The enemy in Black and White was mucg evil than Giovanni or the gang king pins of Hoenn.
