Believe it or not, America's female sharpshooter, Annie Oakley, could've possibly prevented world war I from happening. Probably even completely erasing the existance of world war I ever happening through the event of an mishap. Think that's hard to believe, then hear this.
The story goes, that in one of Annie Oakley's gun shows, she had attract audiences from afar to her events. It was during her appearance in the "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show", in the gathering audience, happen to be Kaiser Wilhelm II. This man, approximatley 20 years in the future after this event, would be the one whose forces that supported Austria-Hungary in a what was thought to be a short-lived war, would cause the threat of war to escalated, starting world war I. During her acts, she usually stated or asked for a challenge/dare upon the audience. During that show, she stated that she could shoot the ash off of a cigar of anyone who happend to be smoking or volunteer. Kaiser had stepped up to the dare to prove her wrong. Annie, couldn't back down from the challenge so decided to do so. As kaiser was lighting the cigar, Annie took aim and fired, knocking the ash off the bud of the cigar. The challenge was an success. Kaiser sat back in his seat, shaken to have a bullet fly past his face.
But heres the thing. What If something had happend to go wrong and she miss and shot him, possibly killing him if it had hit him in the head, seeing she was aiming near his head. Kaiser wouldn't have been around to acknowlegde the supporting of Austria-Hungary which would've possibly been a minor war, if not, no war at all. Amazing ain't it? If she accidently shot him, the event of world war would never have taken place. In fact, no one would have possible brought up world war. Meaning what was stated of her having to been able to possible prevent world war would not have been told. Imagine! She'd be a hero, and no one would know! What do you think? Do you believe she could've prevented world war?
*playes No Regrets* On the second level one would be able to controll her thoughts a little better, and further down you could totally convince her to kill him by having her dead father tell her she needed to split up the company, but then Mal shoots her and Cobb and Ariadne have to go to Limbo to save her but Mal is there. You probably know the rest.
The war would have begun regardless of the Austria-Hungary conflict. Pressure was building up between countries, and after the assassination of Ferdinand, Germany and Russia had their excuses to take sides.
Germany entered Belgium, breaking the Treaty Of London, which gave Britain a reason to participate. Anything could have set it off.
World War I would have still happened. Something else would have been the catalyst. The build-up to the war was happening in a way that nearly anything could have incited it - if not the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, then something else. It was like the game Jenga when the tower is so unbalanced that any piece removed would cause everything to fall.
A world war is actually good!! If it weren't for the world wars we wouldn't have many things like telescopes and rockets.. It also brought most nations together.. There wouldn't be any olympics if it weren't for the result of all the wars!
