Ah... Azalea Town. Azalea town was probably the cutest little town I'd seen so far, let alone heard of. It kind of looked like Newbark Town - My hometown - in a way. Except with less of my mother around, sadly. Already I missed her...
The Gym Leader for this town's name was Bugsy. And, oddly enough, I didn't really know what to expect. I had not really paid attention to this Gym Leader before, no one did. Oh well, I said to myself. This should be easy.
I hopped on the last spider crawling platform thingy. This one would take me to Bugsy, I was sure of it. The gyms layout was weird. It was basically a spider web version of follow the pencil. I didn't care, I just wanted to get this gym over with.
As I approached the gym leader on the spider... Crawly... Platform thing, I saw him... Or her... I'll honestly say I didn't know whether the Gym Leader was a boy or a girl. Also... He was just a kid! Like, not even a day over 14! I shook my head. This'll be easy, I thought to myself.
"Wwwwelcome to the Azalea Town gym, lowly challenger!" Bugsy announced, pointing at me. "What's your name, stranger?"
I facepalmed. "Star. Can we get this over with? The killing of Pokemon really hurts the soul." I said with an annoyed town.
Bugsy didn't like the way I was talking to him. "Ffffiiine," He said, equally impatient. "Go, Scyther!" Bugsy threw his Pokeball, releasing the mantis Pokemon from her chamber. "Go, Cerise!" Cerise entered the battlefield, ready for battle. "Alright, Scyther, use Leer!" Scyther glared at Cerise, lowering her defenses... Although I'm not sure how. I never understood the concept of lowering ones defenses by looking at them in a certain fashion. "Cerise, use Hypnosis!" Cerise released her signature wave of sleepiness toward Scyther, hitting dead on. She slumped over, snoring peacefully. But I knew things would be anything but peaceful after Cerise was done with her.
"Come on, Scyther, wake up!" The Scyther kept on snoring. "Cerise, use Peck!" Cerise jumped on Scyther, digging her claws into Scythers exoskeleton. Cerise reared back, and brought down her beak hard on Scythers chest. "SCYTHER!" Scyther still didn't wake up. Cerise brought down her beak again, pecking Scyther hard. She knew the routine, and I don't think she enjoyed it. "SCYTHER WAKE UP!" Scyther opened her eyes suddenly, and struck Cerise with brutal force. Cerise stumbled backwards, hurt by the attack. "Cerise, Peck!" Cerise lunged toward Scyther, pecking her again.
"Cerise, come back!" I held up my Pokeball, returning Cerise to her Pokeball. "Go, Geos!" I released my Geos on to the battlefield. Geos was a Croconaw now, and with his new menacing look, he gained an astonishing amount of new strength. "Scyther, use Quick Attack!" Scyther struck Geos, but he shook off the blow, un-phased. "Scyther, use Focus Energy!" Scyther surrounded himself with a glowing aura, pumping herself up. However, this attack left her in a vulnerable state, a state that Geos knew how to take advantage of. "Geos, use Bite now!" Geos lunged toward Scyther, knocking her over. Geos stood above her. There was a look of fear in Scythers eyes, as well as Bugsy's. This was the end. Geos brought down his jaws, sinking his teeth in to the tough exoskeleton with ease. There was a sickening crack as Scythers body was chewed to bits. Geos released Scyther from his jaws, dead. Bugsy gasped, his eyes filled with tears. "... Scyther..." He whispered. He shook his head, ready to get the battle over with. His two last Pokemon were weak, and I had just the Pokemon to deal with them. "Go, Metapod..." Bugsy said, unenthusiastically. He threw his Pokeball, releasing the cacoon Pokemon. I returned Geos, not wanting to talk anymore. It was heartbreaking to be the one to sign the kill order, but I had to do what I had to do. "Come on out, Prince Kai." I sent Prince Kai out. Prince Kai was a Togepi, loud and proud. He entered the battlefield just as he always did, ready to end things.
"Metapod, use Tackle..." The Metapod tackled Prince Kai with pathetic force. I pitied the Metapod, but the battle wouldnt end until all of Bugsy's Pokemon were dead. No exceptions. "Prince Kai, use Extrasensory." Prince Kai held his temple, focusing his psychic powers. Once fully focused, he released it, an invisible wave of pain that hurt Metapod. Bugsy winced with his Metapod, causing a tear to trickle down his face.
"Metapod, use Tackle..." Metapod tackled again weakly. "Prince Kai, Metronome." Prince Kai waggled his finger, it glowing brightly. Suddendly, Prince Kai's cheeks puffed up. Then, he released an icy beam in the form of Aurora Beam. The beam hit Metapod. She staggered. "Metapod, Tackle..." Bugsy sobbed. Metapod tackled again. I pityed the Metapod, of course, but things had to be done. But, for the sake of boredom, I commanded Prince Kai to use Metronome again. This time, Prince Kai attempted a Poison Powder, with little prevail. The toxic spores (from where, I cannot be sure) missed their target completely.
"Metapod, Tackle." SLAM! Metapod was obviously tired of the weak forces, noticing the pity in my face and the hopelessness on Bugsy's. Metapod hit with double the force, hitting Prince Kai spot on. It still didn't look like Prince Kai hurt much. "Metronome." I ordered. This time, Prince Kai used Stun Spore, with a little more effort. The spores hit their target, and Metapod became paralyzed. "Prince Kai, Extrasensory." Prince Kai released another psychic wave, damaging Metapod close to death. Metapod tackled again, and I suddendly realized that he couldn't take another blow. But I only needed one more turn... "Extrasensory." I turned away unable to watch. After a few seconds of not watching, I turned to look, only to see Metapods lifeless body, Prince Kai's proud face, and Bugsy's teary eyes. He sobbed once. "Please, stop! No more!" He screamed at me. Poor guy... But I had to finish what I started. "I'm sorry Bugsy. Rules are rules. Last Pokemon, please." He sent out Kakuna, yet another worthless cocoon. The battle went much like Metapods death, except a little swifter, because of type advantages. Bugsy was in tears, and looked furious. He threw the badge at my feet and ran off in to the back room, not bothering to return his dead Kakuna to his Pokeball. I picked up the badge and walked out, happy to have not had any casualties myself.
