“Karyn!†I shout, rushing to his side, getting worried. I find a wound on his leg. A bullet had gotten into his leg. Blood was rushing out. “H-Huh?†He says, waking up. “Ouch!†He exclaims, seeing his leg wound. “Karyn, listen. You need to get up, I can get you to a hospital. I’m taking Summer too.†I say, holding out my hand. He takes it and says,“Okay. How are you going to get us ther-†He cringed and gritted his teeth in pain, holding his leg.
“Umm... we're going to... Fly.â€
Summer looks at me.
“What??†They both say in unison, a hint of confusion in their voices.
“Look, guys.†I said, looking at them, ready to tell the truth. “I... I have wings...â€
“Wow...†Summer says, sarcasm in her voice.
“What? You think I’m playing a prank on you, huh?†I challenge her.
“Yeah. I won’t believe it unless I see.â€
I said nothing else and helped Karyn and Summer down the stairs and outside and then, I grabbed Karyn and Summer’s hands, and almost started running but then-
“Wait.†Karyn said, stopping me.
“What? What do you mea-â€
Swish!
He snapped out beautiful 11 foot wings, golden, shining in the afternoon sun.
“What? You have wings too?†I ask, stunned. I thought I was the only one.
“Me too.†Summer says, shyly bringing out wings the color of her hair. The brown feathers were slightly ruffled. The Implanter must’ve tried to cut them off.
I grab both their hands and start running while Karyn limps along, and we all jump into the air, Karyn jumps with one foot, as I snap my wings out.
Now we’re all in the air together. We rose higher and higher so nobody would see us, and begin to fly faster.
A few minutes later, we are all at a hospital. We land, fold in our wings, walk inside, and check in at the front desk.
“What's your name?†The lady at the front desk asked.
“Mine's Zennia Kura, and this is Karyn, um...â€
“.... I don’t got a last name.†He says quickly.
“I’m Summer.†Summer replies to the lady.
“And how may I help you all?â€
She asks us, and putting down the pen she'd been writing with.
“Well.. Karyn's leg is bleeding badly from a bullet wound, and Summer got stabbed in the arm.†I say.
“Oh my!†She exclaims. “Young man, please come with me.†She says in a calm voice, taking Karyn’s arm and leading him into a wheelchair.
The lady tells a nurse to take Summer to clean and stitch up the wound in her arm.
The lady wheels Karyn down a long narrow hallway as the nurse leads Summer down the same hallway. I follow them. We keep going until we find a red door, and she opens it and wheels Karyn in.
“Young man, I am going to check out your injury. Since the bullet is stuck in there, we might need to operate on it.†She frowned at the wound.
“Oh.. okay..†Karyn said, looking nervous.
“Young woman, go to the waiting room.†The woman instructs me.
“Yes m’am.†I say obediently. I leave the room and walk down the narrow hallway back to the waiting room.

Hours later, a doctor in a white coat comes out of the doors that lead to the narrow hall.
“Is he okay?†I ask with concern.
“Umm, well... The wound is so severe that we had to amputate his leg. It’s too infected. The bullet is an implanter’s bullet, and as you know those cause severe damage to any part of the body it hits.†The doctor replies, looking at his clipboard.
“But he won’t be able to walk!!†I say with worry in my voice.
“Yes he will. We’ve developed new prosthetics, so no need to worry, miss. You can go home now, so the boy can rest.â€
“Wait, sir. What about summer?†I question.
“She’s ok. They stitched up her arm. Nothing that will cause an amputation, miss.â€
Thank goodness.
“Okay...†I trail off, not able to say anything else. I get up and walk to the door, open it, and step outside.
I leap into the air, snap my wings out, and start to fly home.
