THANKS ASPARAGUS FOR FEATURING THIS, but I had to make a new one so it was at the top of the blog list. She originally featured this.
Hey guys.
Ok so, I am gonna forgo the introduction and get right into this, because I don't care about anything except for Smash. Expect a very unorganized and poorly paced blog, as this is an attempt from me to let out some eager ranting.
Basically, I think Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may end up being the best game Nintendo has ever released, judging by what we have seen of it. 73 confirmed characters, with many more to come; 103 confirmed stages, with many more to come; 800 confirmed songs, with many more to come; you get my point.
This game looks to have an incredible amount of content, joining one of a few Switch titles that sets out to be the best of their respective installments - Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild come to mind. Just from the trailers and Directs we have seen, this game has more content than any previous Smash game created, and intentionally strives to do so. Sakurai constantly displays this behavior when presenting this game; multiple times he displays a fake milestone that is above any of the other games, and then purposefully shatters this milestone. An example is of when he presented the song number, which began to slow down around 480, and would have stopped at around, maybe 550, until it suddenly speeds up and clocks up at 800, and then 900. Another example is of the stage count, which stalls at around 73, then bursts through the screen to rest happily at 103. He does this with character reveals as well! Both Directs we have seen so far were already spectacular BEFORE their surprise characters, Ridley and King K. Rool, were revealed; but of course, he surprises us by revealing them at the very end.
And many characters still have yet to be announced, if we go by the same timeline the last two games have, which basically equally spread character reveals from the initial game reveal to the game release.
(Speaking of which, are there any characters you think are basically guaranteed to be in Smash Ultimate? You should comment about that. Personally, I think Shadow, Geno, Ken, and Bandana Waddle Dee are gonna get in, even if I only actually care about Dee.)
They may even go the full route and release every stage in the series; it wouldn't be an astronomical feat to achieve, considering that there are less than 20 stages from across the series that aren't in Ultimate. I know Sakurai said it would not happen, but he also said Ridley would not end up in Smash, so...
This isn't even mentioning the inevitable story mode, which we have a ton of proof for. Dracula and Rathalos, two bosses revealed in the 8/8/18 Direct, do not spawn on regular stages and were both shown in flat stages that aren't on the stage selection screen. Many have been led to believe that this story mode is called "Spirits", due to some glitches with the blurring of it in the Direct. Many also believe it will have some kind of Heroes vs. Villains motif, as villains have become a big theme in recent Directs, what with K. Rool, Ridley, and Dark Samus joining the roster.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl's story mode was by far one of its most unique and highly praised modes in the game, and while I did not appreciate the bland locations and enemies, I was a fan of the character interactions, music, and bosses. I really hope Ultimate's story mode is something in the vein of Subspace Emissary.
In case anyone was curious, I will be maining PAC-MAN, King K. Rool, and Captain Falcon. I'm also really wanting to play Mario, Inkling, and Meta Knight. They really buffed PAC-MAN this time around; he charges his fruit faster, and he grabs faster, and they did this cool thing where he can only z-drop fruit once now, which sucks, but the fruit retain their properties! Which means if I z-drop a bell on a guy to dunk on him, it will actually stun him as if I threw it normally. So that's neat. K. Rool looks like he could be an incredible heavyweight, his projectiles are cool, he has a counter, and he just looks so nice. Captain Falcon is Captain Falcon, I shouldn't have to justify that. I can't deny that Inkling looks very fun, and Mario has been a very amazing character since Smash 4.
I am pretty buttblasted that Dr. Mario isn't listed as an Echo Fighter, though. I hope they change that!! Chrom is more different from Roy than Dr. Mario is from Mario, so why isn't Dr. Mario an echo? So strange. That kind of digs at me for no reason.
I think that is pretty much it, I would have made this longer but I don't want to. See you.
