Props to you bronies. I'm no brony, but I can see how anyone could like the show. I saw only one episode on youtube for curiosity (the one where fluttershy tries to build confidence), and I am glad that the moral messages of this show reach people.
And no I don't mean "herp a derp I want Misty and brock teh rock to join ash ketchup and catch all teh pokemanz liek teh original saries1!111111!
I mean characters that had a relatively minute role in the series and had potential to become fully fleshed out.
WARNING! INSIGHTFUL RANT BELOW!
Lets face it.
Ash, Misty, and Brock are already butchered beyond repair. The character progression that was built up for them after so long was shattered when Brock became an idle filler character in DP and Ash lost everything he learned from his previous expedition(s) when the Black & White season rolled around.
When Misty returned as a special visitor in later installments, she lost all her anger outbreaks which added charm and life to her character. Now she's another 'generic character B' with no real diffrintiating qualities.
Ash acts like a total novice even after [how many seasons?]. And Brock.... well Brock is Brock.
