I actually agree because it tells the site owners loopholes that need patching. If I was in charge of the Marines, I'd rather have it hacked by them than the Al-Qaeda.

Actually, I want to see how they do with facebook. I understand where LulzSec is coming from, and I can see why this seems like the most effective way to expose the security of major corporations.

While they did appear to abandon (presently) taking down the colossus that is Facebook, it was reported that they did hack into defence and security networks based in Finland, Israel and Portugal. Perhaps their harbingers of doom were purposed to mislead. Admittedly, it does seem contrary to their agenda, but their actions could be a matter of priorities.

And let's face it: even though they claim to have the people's interests in mind, LulzSec and Anonymous are cyber terrorists. Intentionally inciting widespread consternation is spreading terror. One could argue that their goal was to create fear.

Never underestimate groups like LulzSec. They may be more devious than most think.

What their group movement promotes is anarchy, and what they do goes along the lines of "stop this, or we'll shut you down". That is both selfish and deeply rooted in special interest. Its "goals" are so broad that they contradict one another. The happenings that are attributed to Anonymous are the doings of many individuals who merely all decide to bear the label.
