One of my younger friends got suspended from school last year because she was wearing a crusifix with Jesus on it. :/
She wasn't even doing anything with it, she was just wearing it. The school's stupid excuse was "Some gang members wear crusifixes." Yes, I highly believe a 8 year old girl who's father is a priest is involved in illegal, violent gang activity. (sarcasm)

Suspension sounds a bit over-reactive, in my opinion. Maybe detention, although that never solves anything, or sending the child home with a note or warning. One or two more times, then suspension.[?]

Evolution, Arty. All the people with fingers too large for their nostrils died out because, as everyone knows, when boogers clot up you nose they climb up into your brain and kill you. It gets all cramped up in your head, and your brains get squished around. Picking saves lives. Though I suppose blowing could probably save about as many.

Not sure if Hull confused something with Sikhism or not. Sikhism is a completely different religion (although it borrows from many other major world religions), and one of the outward signs of faith is a dagger (called a "kirpan") meant to remind the wearer to remain independent of faith and to fight injustice.
