Recently, book stores such as Borders has been closing down. Why? E-Books, The Internet, Kindle, and the fact that reading isn't as popular as it was before. Soon enough Libraries will be extinct...What is everyone's speculation on this?
Communism: You have more water, everyone has more water!
Hmm... As much as I love to read, and I love the feel of a book in my hand, I think it's fine so long as we still read. Older people[in general] are quick to assume anything with a screen is bad. I still read real books though, I'm not paying for an e-something=
.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
I prefer real books myself. It just feels "right" to me, just as I'm sure that one day when e-reading is the norm and physical books are not, that will feel "right" to that generation.
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.
I prefer libraries over bookstores, unless I need either a guidebook or something that's handy to have around, like a cookbook, etc. Otherwise, I'm not paying $19.99 for a one-read series, I don't re-read as much as I used to. Shame Borders is closing, I actually have a gift card for them still. XD

Yeah.. I like actual books too. I've tried reading a book on my dsi, 3ds and computer before, but it gets annoying. I'd rather have a glorious bookshelf of books I can read, than a list of books on an electronic device >.> I'd rather pay for a physical book I can take anywhere and move around, than a file with a book on it that I can't lend, or share or bring with me unless I bring the device.. Not to mention I'd rather not have to stare at a harmful screen in order to read a book.. I'm already practically blind xP
Plus, my favourite smell ever is the smell of books and magazines and paper and ink and stuff in that category.
Ban, I see where you're coming from, but that's the same as not wanting to pay taxes for school/education when you don't have children. They're worth it to others.
Neon, I prefer the scent of burning train fuel. Better than paper.

Hmm.. I doubt they're going to just get rid of bookstores, though. I think authors would sell way more if they continued to keep bookstores opened, because it would be harder to hear about new books, not everybody would have a device to download books onto, and in a bookstore it's easier to browse and look at the books that catch your attention, and even quickly scan through the first couple pages to see if it interests you.
Well, don't buy a sucky book :P I'd personally rather own a book than just "borrow" it, especially if I really liked it.. but I can understand the appeal of libraries, too. I think we should have both.
