A lot of sites have an option to receive emails when you receive a new message or profile comment, etc.
Why doesn't this site have one? When Hull updates the site, I notice the alert box goes blank, or if an alert was sitting for so long it goes away. If an alert was sent to my email, it would never go away. I don't use my email often, so I wouldn't mind receiving DSiPaint Alerts. Does anyone else feel the same?
I posted this on the forums instead of the helpdesk mainly for two reasons:
•So it can be discussed by regular members since I'm not really pitching the idea, I'm more of just discussing it.
•The chatrooms have been dead all day today so I wanted to see if people are alive out there, lol
If Danny Did This, Everytime something Happens Such As Friends, Inbox, Outbox, Saviis etc. It Would Spam Your Email's Inbox, And It WOULD Be Annoying, So I Disagree With Your Idea TacoRocco.
Other sites like Facebook do have this option. But this is no Facebook.
95% of the users here are DSi/3DS users, neither of which system is ideal for viewing email. Now I understand that some alerts dissipate relatively quickly and might be missed when offline; so I suggest an alerts log that would show all unread/unnoticed alerts broadening on the narrow scope of the 'My Alerts' we (mostly) have on the homepage. The log could have a notification number similar to inbox and friend requests, and include either a delete option or simply clicking an item to remove an alert. In essence, it allows you to never miss something.
Why email?
Why not [b]DSiPaint mail[/b, huh?
Don't want the alerts in your inbox, then?
Deletion's a breeze with AJAX.
Don't want alerts period?
Uncheck a box that says, "Receive alerts via mail".
This is no facebook though, the spam would be minor even if you have many friends a few group notifactions..couple profile alerts, nothing to whine over when they're easily deleted.
The Email alert's are quite good for lazy people in view of if you can't be asked clicking 'My Profile' you just the click the alert... *POOF* You're reading your message, alerts are quiet good.
