The sad part is, Tons of those people that freaked out sold ALL of their things just to have money before the world ends. [3 months ago.] Those SAME people Still belive it. [no joke.]
And then there is the 2012 thing.....Jeez people, CALM DOWN. The only reason people think the world is going to end next year is because 12/21/12 is when the Mayan calandar runs out. [If you ask me, It's because They were too lazy to keep going.]
@Inkshowteam Right. So instead of harping on about how stupid the prediction is, why not shift this thread in other directions?
With these doomsday prophecies becoming popular, I've noticed aphorisms along the lines of "Jesus is a cool guy with a horrible fan club" surfacing. Participants in Christianity may find that offensive, but it is largely true. The Christian/Catholic community is allowing Camping uncontested stage time. I have heard of no Christian group decrying his statements, and I know for a fact that it is not because they are all in one boat. Leaders in the religion should not be putting themselves above this situation, and because they are, they appear foolish on both sides of the line.
On a slightly lighter note, I find it amusing to see certain services opening up--notably "After The Rapture Pet Care". Lunacy breeds opportunism? Well said.
'After the Rapture Pet Care'? Good to know people are using this situation to their advantage. .-.
So I guess this means we have the pro/con thing going. On one end, The World is supposedly ending and people are irrationaly panicing, and on the other, The business world is taking this opportunity to increase profits.
By the way, I find that you saying 'Christian/Catholic' is offensive because I hapoen to be Catholic and The religion is just a branch of Christianity.
Oh noes! The end of the world again! Seriously though, I am surprised how easily people panic. I could say anything with legitimate sounding proof and anyone would believe it. It fascinates me how something highly insignificant can stimulate panic...
