Within the hour or so, Muammar el-Qaddafi, the former leader of Libya, has been reported dead--more accurately, killed by rebel militants. It occurred when his hometown where he had been hiding was finally captured by rebel forces in a several week battle. Al Jazeera television showed a graphic video of the bloodied body which appears to have a gunshot wound to the head. As expected, many Libyans are jubilant. Officials in the post-Qaddafi government say that his death would cement the country's liberty and pave the way for an election process; however, leadership is still very shaky for the time being.
