help! im using the stupid document.getElementById function (javascript). i want to learn more functions but i need a bit of help

i want to use getElementByTagName to acess an element. e.g. access the 3rd <P> element. help if you can?

k. lol. im sure someone knows. websites i go on to find out dont show how to do the things you want. one said how to list all the elements in a popup and how to acess them seperately with an array. i cant find the website anymore. kinda annoying.

1. It's a document accessing method, not function.
2. It's document.getElementsByTagName("P")[2];
3. Depending on the browser you're using, this DOM method may not work

ooohhh.... i get it. thnx lol. and i knew that. lol function sounds better. why do you have to use special words -.- it is a function in a way as it preforms the function to access an elelent =D

fire fox. though i always norally use opera and safari. is there a possible code for each browser or is there only limited availability? might as well scrap the cide if not.

I too use FireFox (well, and Chrome and Opera). All DOM methods should be working just fine. If it still isn't working, post the code in this thread so we can check it out.

If he's using a browser that is no more than a year old, I don't think he should be having any trouble getting most DOM methods to work.

He means other methods of accessing parts of a document, maleck.

Haven't you ever used document.getElementsByTagName()[] or document.getElementByClassNames()[]?

You could probarbly get the class to see the id. To be honest I only know how to access elements by id lol xD
