[SUGGESTION] Reputation System

There would be a new flood of admins bloging on something the users complain alot about. Most recent would of been the helpdesk thing.

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

It would make people complain alot more and also provide fuel for the more popular members to attack the non popular (noobs). However if those problems could be solved or do not exist, it could be an interesting feature to the site.

Normal members would beg for rep however. But I do supose you could give it to them, but give them bad rep. And make it so it displays on ones profile. This could give users and idea of what kind of person someone is. I could see the advantages.

Kind of like the Admin suggestion thing we had before. It went downhill, I'm not really for an idea of something that similar happened and failed. It is a good idea, honestly.

Well if only admin can give rep then tnis idea sucks and it wouldn't be fair and cause more complaining about how admins have too much power while we can't do anything. get what im saying. its like having only admin being able to vote on blogs. see how that never got abused so i dont see the problem with this getting abused and if a user gets tons of rep by new people then instant perm or have it so you have to be on the site for at least a month or more

Nothing can be done. It's totally fair. Normal users will abuse this power. If for example they don't like someone, they will give him negative rep for no reason. There needs to be some order. So no. Admins only.[/quote]

But have it so you have to say a reason why you voted that way

then if there reason is stupid then give them -1 rep or ban 24 hours

You know admin has favorites and people they dont like. they arnt perfect and they are just like us. plus latly some admins be slacking off a lot ( not you ) and admin has gotten into trouble too so think twice before you think admin are all fair but most of them are just some arnt and i should know this since i was here since 09 :P

i think only repmins should be able to give rep since its not overpowering admins keeps it balanced

Takis, you said that if someone didn't like another person they would give bad rep, but wouldn't that make sense? That's their rep from that person...I think users should be able to give rep, or the idea is bogus.

Every user wants to have any kind of power. But no. I won't repeat it. Admins only.[/quote]

So lets take away your "admin powers" and now you have no power what so ever your just a normal member and all you want is a little more freedom of what you can do but some guy is holding you back because we are all but under the name noob seeing that most of us arnt and if we didnt get perm yet then there is some trust there...

Really bad example. Because you may not, but others will. And you wouldn't like someone spam negative rep to you, would you? =)

they would have no reason to and also to create a new account it would take you a bit to change your ip and stuff but for what reason and what im saying is that this is going to fail without letting other give rep and i dont think you understand what a rep is. its like how they act or what they do around the site and admins dont see that as much as we do plus it will help with bans if your rep is under -10

If you don't like someone, that doesn't give you the right to give them bad rep (if members were able to.) Someone may have done something you don't like, but it doesn't mean its bad.

Anyway, a thought. Along with the admins giving rep, being banned gives negative rep. If you go a certain lngth of time you gain a little rep. Like go a month without a ban, gain a little rep. Something like that.

well i know more then you think you just dont know it and still rep is like a rating of a user like your history of a user its not just for good things plus when admins are around people try not to break the rules as much if you avnt noticed i seen a lot of this everywhere

Well takis rep is how they act AROUND the site not just 1 part. Its like when your in school you want to be all cool and stuff well that is what you want your REP to be. Also rep is how you see them as a person. If they did something bad that made you HATE them then give them bad rep because they are a bad person and if they gave you good info and helped you out a lot and if nice to people give them good rep its not hard but if only admins can do this then it will be a fail and no one will care that much about it because its only the admin point of view and no the users. Admins see things differently and so do we. We try to be friends with most people while admins are trying to caught us doing bad stuff and not get to know everyone for who they are. Which this could happend if someone has good rep by users and then admin can see that they are good and if they have bad rep then they have to watch them more

No offense but most people on this site know how to do that and this is a fail idea seeing only admin can give rep and you still dont understand rep it is what everyone know them as not just admins like most admins only know 1/8 of the people on here maybe not even that

I wouldn't talk about abusing powers after you false banned me and Holly the first day you got Chatmin. Trying to get us perma'd because you disliked us. Failed though. There are Admins who get away with things like that. This would just be an oportunity for you to threaten users with a '-1 rep', like you usually do with blogs.[/quote]
