Do you believe in the existence of a Deity/"God"/gods?

Hopefully this thread won't devolve into a pile of steaming poo.... a vain hope perhaps.

Basically, do you happen to believe in the existence of a god of some sort (theism or deism) and if so, why? If you happen to lack a belief in such or disbelieve theistic/deistic claims I ask you too, why?

Preferably, present an argument of some sort for discussion.

No, I don't beleive in any god. I don't know why though. I used to beleive in that stuff, but don't anymore.

I don't have anything intelligent to say.

I believe in the exitence in most gods. They all have key stories and evidence that connect with our past and modern ways of living.

Some gods, I view them as ones answer, hope, and/or exit from the real world causes. Those I consider religions, like Christianity, Satanic, Buddhism, and others. These religions (correct me if I'm wrong) have a god that people follow to either continue their ways and actions on earth. They contact these gods by prayer, ritual, and/or meditation. There is also said to be a day, presumed after death, the ones who follow them will join them in a third-world atmosphere. The most notible being a Heaven and Hell. In these realms, it is either filled with peaceful or suffering souls of the after-life.

I'll may talk about greek gods in another post but after I do a few research on them to make sure I make no mistakes in explaining them.

No. If there were gods, theres no way they could put anyone through as much suffering that goes on each day.

None of which lends any credence to the supposed deity being loving, with the Old Testament displaying what I cannot distinguish from an evil entity. I have major problems with the seemingly reformed New Testament god as well, though I think it best that I not lump everything in one post. xD

I was baptized and was confirmed but only cuz that's what my parents wanted. I don't believe in god or any higher power. I was born I lived and I will die. After that I will biodegrade and turn into dirt and nutrients will go into grass fed on by a cow and someone will eat that cow. The circle just keeps going. I won't got to an afterlife, no reincarnation, just dirt.

I would hate it if God made everything nice and perfect. Life would be so boring.

I also understand why God wouldn't save everyone from dying.

Completley and utterly agree. I don't really feel like there's an afterlife, nor a meaning TO life. We're just here by an impossible cosmic coincidence, and that's that. That's why we should indulge in life and treat ourselves to the beter things innstead of punishing ourselves for the bad things, and that's why I'm a Satanist.
