Classic Gaming VS. Modern Gaming

first : yeah everything is commercial nowadays look at bf3 ,facebook games,ios games cod...totaly true but theres a but...i likke playing call of duty you even see in the first cod there was no sign of something commercial
and now the last cod black ops 2 you can buy cod elite. map packs just for money . anyway the gamedeveloppers to deserve there money... you shoud to make a game you worked on heres my upionion i choose both

does ratchet and clank qualify as classic? If so then I deffinately choose classic :)

I don't agree. Modern gaming leaves serious gamers in the shadows by catering primarily to casual gamers with games like Crap of Duty or Halo. If it weren't for classic gaming, which generally leaned towards people like me who essentially treat gaming as a valid sport, serious gamers wouldn't really have anywhere to go.

Classic gaming won this by having the most memories to recall when playing them. While modern gaming nearly fit the position, but has brought a new flaw to games everywhere. And if this modernized way of gaming is not justified soon then many titles such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, and some others will fall with a great amount of force. I see it clearly that these games are doing there best to remain as one of the best sellers, but I think they've been trying too hard for the past years.

There ways of gaming is now infecting other games such as, one of my favorites, Ninja Gaiden. In number 3 of the Ninja Gaiden franchise, Team Ninja thought they could score a large community by skipping the story and just going right in to the multiplayer business. But that didn't help the game at all. It only took away from that original experience that the other two Ninja Gaidens had given. Another single player game that has been infected recently was the God of War series as well. They are trying to fit in with the multiplayer era when these games should just keep the original single player experience.

Even some multiplayer games we all say are the best are struggling. Look at Call of Duty. Compare all the changes they made to the game and how rare or slowly these changes have been made. They have reached there peak on graphics and con no longer rely on it. Their gameplay is also at it's peak but needs to change soon before the community becomes bored with it. If they appeal to the entire community, and no more new comers or people who have stopped playing their games, then that community will fall. Same with Battlefield. The games have gotten too real, they can't make it any more realistic or else the community will give up on them.

They need a new original form of gaming, like the classics. Something that makes them unique rather than being known as the best sellers. Nothing too real, but original. Black ops and World at war are doing their best using their Zombies spin-off. But that too, may fall.

Sorry for writing and explaining too much. I just spoke my deepest opinion. And in the end, I never said a word about what makes classic gaming top. But I believe we all know why.

Wow, looks like I'm outnumbered. I think video games are as good as they have ever been. There are some good classics out there, but I prefer newer games. I don't get why newer games get so much hate. I agree that games like CoD and Halo are overdone, but there are still some great modern games. Examples: Portal 2, Skyrim, Pokemon Black/White 2, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2.

If it's before stuff like Facebook and the iPhone, it's classic. That's my opinion anyway.

Each has it's own perks and flaws.
I prefer modern, but in some cases classic is just a ton more awesome.
Some modern developers are actually really creative, among those who aren't as imaginative.

One game I loved as a classic was Spyro.
I LOOVED it.
After we traded in our PS2 and it's games, years after, Skylanders came out, and I thought it was stupid compared to the old one.
Not that it was a copy of anything or that it was unoriginal, I just didn't love it like the original.

I'd have to say classic. Modern is good, but most games don't get you hooked. You'll get bored of it eventually.

People are going to choose classics because they had more fun playing it at that time period. If a modern game came out at the same time as a classic (by some wierd time loop dealeo) then most likely, you would like that modern game over the classic.

Also, people are getting older. Nintendo can keep doing the pokemon games the same because younger kids who have never played itpick itup. My first pokemon game was pokemon yellow but Ive seen somekidswhos first pokemon game was diamond or heart gold.

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

Modern gaming all the way. The only thing classic games has over modern ones is the game durability. It doesn't break as easy.
