Is the U.S. as good as it used to be, or is it getting worse? Discuss.

The title is self-explanatory.

My view on this:

Personally, I think the U.S. is going downhill. I mean, first off, let's look at the wealth distribution here in the U.S. compared to other Developed Countries. It's EXTREMELY unfair. 10% of the Americans have enough money to save our Government from going downhill, but they decide to use it for something else.

(I'd rant more, but I'll let everyone else do that for me. Plus, I'm getting tired from typing on my 3DS.)

Memories too strong stay there, BUT memories strong enough can replace the ones you once had

I would say this topic would be better in the Current Events Section, since it IS current.

Terrible! It's gosh darned terrible! I've never been alive for any other time in the U.S., but I know that this is in fact the absolute worst things have ever been!

The best time for the U.S. was the 50s! Sure, it wasn't so great for anyone who wasn't a white Christian man, but was anyone else back then really considered a person?

And medicine! Jeezuz, medicine! Did you know that we've made unbelievable progress with medicine? That's horrendous! It's revolting how we can save so many people nowadays! If someone gets cancer, it's no longer anywhere near as serious as it used to be! That's blasphemy! If you get cancer, then you're meant to die. Why else would god have given it to you?

Oh! OH! And technology! Don't even get me started on technology! Not only has technology made astounding strides forth which we could only ever dream of before, what with having just about anything and everything you could ever need or want to know accessible through a little bit of metal and plastic, but even those on the verge of poverty can afford luxuries reserved solely for the upperclass before! High quality cars and TVs, laptops, cellphones, ipods, any and all gaming consoles, and all that stuff should only be the rich! But instead it's absolutely everywhere in every last corner of the U.S.! It's disgusting...

Then there's the environmental factor. The idea of saving energy and reducing polution has never before been such a popular priority! If I can't run my car without it constantly spewing out thick black smoke then just what the heck is the point of even living?! Recycling?! It hurts my soul to make good use of trash instead of dumping it all into landfills and the ocean! Solar power?!

AAAUGHH! It's all going downhill, people can afford necessities, entertainment and recreation has never been such a big part of everyday life, people are living longer and healthier, we're making an effort to help the environment, tolerance and acceptance of other people is common and encouraged, technology is at new height and still progressing rapidly, and everything in general is better than it used to be! It's a darn shame! DARN SHAME!!!

We punish hard work and success by taxing people by income, then we give their money to some lazy bum sitting on his ass living off the effing mercy of this pitiful excuse for a government that runs this overgovernmental hellhole we call the US! Oh, and those lazy bums don't get it, the foreign affair police (a.k.a. our military) gets it on shiny guns used to kill other hapless soldiers defending their country.

We feel the need to intervene on EVERY little foreign affair, but ignore our own. Someone sneezes in china, we have paramedics taking them to the finest hospital they can find. Someone gets gravely wounded here, Bah, screw them.

And the bible thumpers.... They're EVERYWHERE. Trying to push their imaginary friend down your throat. I don't want to live in someone elses hand, nonetheless one that doesn't EXIST. Jehovah's witnesses... These have a special place in the looney bin if you ask me. My neighbors dropped a beehive on them once. He knocked it out of tne tree with a rock right when they came up to the door. They deserved it.

I like to talk like I know about politics, but like I've mentioned a few minutes ago I probably don't know what I'm talking about. However, I will state that I'm not proud of the current state of my nation, and if our government doesn't do something soon something bad might happen.
