What 3DS RPG should I get?

I'm planning on getting an RPG game before X and Y come out, and I'm choosing between Fire Emblem Awakening, Etrian Odyssey IV, or Project X... uh... whatever the last word of it is. I like the overworld exploration, map making, and overall theme of Etrian Odyssey, but the random encounters are sort of annoying after a while, plus I have no idea how to restore MP. Fire Emblem seems cool and I like the quality of the cutscenes but I'm sort of afraid it will basically be a movie with battles scattered in between. Project X has the really cool 2D battle scenes but I don't really know the characters from any of the games, so the story and references will make no sense at all, so I'll probably not understand it.

I like open-world, map-making, unit battles, and detailed cutscenes, but I'm not sure which one of the three games I want. Do you guys think I should get one of these, or is there another option I'd probably like more?

...Also, from the Kingdom Hearts games I've played they seem more like a action RPG with more combat and fighting, like the Legend of Zelda instead of turn-based battles which is what I'm sort of looking for. :P

Is depends of what genre you like more if is just RPG, FE:A, if is fight PX.

Anyway, a lot of my friends and community's talk about FE:A and say to is really, really a good game.

So if is for me... I buy the FE:A but on second plave is PX

Could have also tried Final Fantasy, or Dragon Quest, both fantastic turn based RPG's for the DS.

If you don't have Fire Emblem: Awakening yet, I urge you to get it. Its the best 3DS game out there in my opinion, go buy it.

Umm what about Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate? Or is that game different?

Action-RPGs usually are not what is meant when simply using the term "RPGs". A little nuanced, considering some don't really recognise it as an actual genre while being purist on turn-based combat. Games like Zelda are not widely viewed to be RPGs as opposed to, say, The Elder Scrolls, and Pokémon can be argued it is its own category. None of it is formulaic, just opinion. Granted, Project X Zone is more of a hybrid strategy game, but OP mentioned favouring that.
