I've heard that black & white is completely cutting off the old 493 pokemon! is that true?!? if it is, i'm going to stop now while i caught em all :p

I've heard that it's going to be the final Pokemon game, but I don't think either are likely. Not much point in 'Gotta catch 'em all' without All.

Where did you hear that? I doubt it. You will probably be able to get some of the older Pokemon after you get the National Pokedex. The person who said the older 493 Pokemon are going to be cut completely doesn't know anything.

And they're not making anymore Pokemon for the Nintendo DS, but Nintendo 3DS is the new focus.

I'd like to add that the series makes so much money that Nintendo would be crazy to let it go.
