If you do not know the series, it is basically a curtain fire game which means that you play as a sprite that can move about the screen while loads of enemies fire at you. The game has become very popular through out the otaku world because of it number of games(17) and its plethora of characters(over 50) eache character is unique in their own way which makes then even more epic. Another thing that made the game so popular was the music, one of the songs that came from it made it on to the news network CNN which was bad apple. Touhou can be crazy but that's what a-lot of people love about it, it's just a very fun game to play. Now as for the eyes, Yes they do have pretty big eyes, but that's just because ZUN(creator)is just not that good at drawing. (In my opinion I think hes' a pretty good artist.)
