You don't need to know PHP or My SQL to make games. What you need to learn is javascript, specifically, object oriented programming, and become experienced with it.

It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.

PHP/mySQL only store form data...

Makes no sense in doing that with a game.

Use AJAX,And Javascript.
