Assuming you're speaking about time of membership (rather than physical age of the account's owner):
It's not in the spirit of maintaining the community to set up seniority restrictions.
However, administrators on the website do have access to sections/capabilities that normal users do not. I think that's fine as it is.
It could be cool, but some wouldn't like it, and it could cause older/veteran members to only go to that particular section, into which their younger friends couldn't, and thus they'd couldn't chat with them.
*Then points out that 2+2=4 for no apparent reason*
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.
I'm not in favor of the seniority restriction, although, I usually would be. As for an age restriction, I suppose... But, no. It's probably go to a grave pretty quickly. As it is, older members already get away with such things...
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
age restrictions sound better though. Hey hull, can u add a new check on the profi setts? a mature lang filter. you can see stuff uncencored when unchecked, and cenc'd when checked. it starts checked, and it only is avalible to kids 12+.
Do we really need to talk to each other in a rude matter? Do we need to drop the f-bomb to get a point across? I think not. How about we leave everything PG rated? It's not that hard to not-swear...
Communism: You have more water, everyone has more water!
Yes, it appears now that the topic creator was referring to physical age.
There are a host of issues, in addition to what was already mentioned.
- Such exclusivity is contrary to the composition of this networking site.
- Younger users anticipating participation in "older chats".
- What does that say about the site if older users can get off the hook?
- This website was created with a young demographic in mind.
- There's no real way to enforce segregated participation either; a 24-hour ban is exactly that.
- You're assuming that older means more mature, which is very often not the case.
And dare I raise the very obvious potential question of what makes it right for older users to behave in a looser way? When you pose an idea such as this, you should be willing to give very specific details, most notably about exactly what "less strict rules" entails.
SDK would become another crappy website destroyed from the inside out. It's simply not happening.
I myself being only 13, don't like talking to people my age..people who are just now striking there teens seem to become noobs as they finally hit puberty...lucky for me I'm not one of them..
