Do you think the old Pokemnon series is better?

there is 1 series called pokemon chronicles, which has npthing 2 do with ash, u shd watch it, and yes, the older episodes r much better

Ash, is sort is sort of the main character, so taking him out would be like taking link from Legend of Zelda. However, I what you mean, Ash, in my opinion, isn't a very likeable main character.
