I figured out how to build the trap door in like one second of thinking

If you explore pre-existing caves, you find more ore than if you make your own mine shafts, but with added danger.

You know how the entire landscape has tons of chunk updates when it changes to nightime? Notch has implemented a new lighting system in 1.7 that makes it so there are 0 chunk updates during nightime.

1.8 is going to have a new mode! Adventure mode! I don't know anything about it though.
