This has happened about what, three times already? I personally think theres a small group wanting to kill babies with alcohol/tequila/wine/etc. Or maybe just a chain reaction. Or maybe they do it for publicity. Or maybe they want to revenge. Or--Well, you see my point. Endless line of possibilities.
...I think the parents and whoever served the cocktail were a little drunk themselves if they thought a cocktail looked or smelled like apple juice.. and why would a baby even drink alcohol? I'd think it wouldn't like the taste..
An infant/toddler's taste buds are not completely developed sometimes. And most parents today aren't that... "Grade A". They didn't think to taste-test their child's food, and furthermore, they took a young child out to a crappy food-chain. They ought to eat at home, or go to a friend's house or something. But, that's my view.
@Syed: Exactly.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
I had heard about this story, and for clarification, the toddler was served the drink in a sippy cup, which was likely opaque. The reason for the wrong drink was because the jugs containing the apple juice and the pre-made margarita mixes were identical.
From what I read, the toddler began to vomit shortly after the incident. That, along with the fact that the whole drink wasn't consumed, probably saved his life.
But no matter how it happened, it did. And it was sloppy on the part of the restaurant. Good to know that Applebee's is altering its serving policy. And I surely hope that the toddler's family comes to a reasonable settlement with the chain.
Hmm I didn't even know there was such a thing as pre-made cocktails or margaritas or whatever it was..
I wasn't exactly suggesting the parents taste-test the drink, by the way, (do parents do that..?) well at least I wouldn't.. mostly because I'm food OCD. But wouldn't the person who got it ready at least have smelled it when they were pouring it? I don't know.. at least there was no harm done.
And is it just me or is 15 months old a bit young to be drinking apple juice..? Babies are still breastfeeding or drinking other milk up until about 12-13 months.. I'd wait a bit longer before trying to rot my kid's teeth out..
True, it's only "better" because of lack of the high fructose corn syrup. I don't feel like debating a southerner over corn syrup's "real values", so don't bug me about that.
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
WHY do people keep saying "it might've happened on purpose"?!It's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that a crappy restaraunt-chain employee would be targeting a toddler specifically.
