I agree. It's really hard to view profiles on a DSi when the images are up to 1000px wide or more, not to mention the profiles with ridiculous usage of GIFs. :/
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.
I agree as well. My Profile[s] are both plain, as I wiped my Ram Profile clean, out of fear. I had 3 images, and light color changes. I'm sick of the .GIFs, huge .PNGs, and stupid sparkly backgrounds. All I have now are Gen II-Crystal Pokèmanz sprites, and they don't lag up my DSi. And I have crap connection, so that also affects other's Profiles... I agree with a limiting system, or, even, one that is size-based. ie; "Your image does not meet the size requirements. 120p×120p at max."
Reasonable? Sadly, it's proobably a pain to program something that uptight...
Whoa bro, better slow down bro, don't wanna be a bro, bro.
One issue I have with profile customization is the color contrasts. Users need to put a little more thought into it, because it's not that easy to highlight text on the DSi browser.
But it is worse when irritating animated files are used for backgrounds. Several I've seen have been overly flashy and the rate at which they repeat could cause seizures for individuals with photosensitive epilepsy. Rare, but not out of the question.
So people need to be considerate and sensitive when choosing colors and backgrounds.
