I've seen users who do admit that they do it for exactly that--attention, but for "noble" purposes, particularly drawing views to supposedly philanthropic or merely notable blogs. In answer to that, it is more unfair than dishonest, and credibility is lost; there are other ways to spread the word about something--bulletin board threads, featured blogs, groups, etc. So participating in such foolishness is counterproductive.
There has been one user in particular that I've seen do this consistently for a while: TOMMYGUN850. He claims that it is for the troops in the Middle East (or something like that).
...Can someone explain how? He gets support for the troops by...getting people to comment on his profile (usually with "happy birthday"s)?
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.
They do it for attention. They not only faking they're birthday. There is some times when I go to they're profile and, I'll say is it r Really your birthday? Then the user delete my comment so people doesn't it. But this should stop. I think Hull should update that. Like you set your birthday and, if they try changing it. They won't be able to change it. Just an idea. :-/
