I've seen tons of threads like OMG 1 THOUSANDTH THREAD before. Some of them are even random numbers like COOL THE 357TH THREAD once or twice. All I have to say, is, well, only two sentences. One, it's annoying. Very. Two, it's spam. And lately, people are spamming so much that the Bulletin Boards have darted to lag, and now Danny's had to pause his work on more important matters to fix it.
We BBmins do have a Delete Thread option. I have used it multiple times. sort of for the wrong idea thoigh.
The delete Thread option is only to delete threads with, rude, rascist, and hurtful gestures that could be offensive to other memebers.
we are not supposed to delete threads for any other reason then that one.
Locking a thread is used for getting rid of useless stuff that does not belong in a certaine category.
I don't find it annoying in comparison to other BB issues. But it is still spam. Yet spam alone can't be blamed for the lag; as long as new threads and posts are made, it will typically get progressively more difficult to access them. The new storage system put in place should alleviate much of that.
The twist to the fairly new locking system is that when a thread is locked, all posts within are removed from post logs and the thread is sent to the end of the thread list (instead of the top, where it is visible). So when threads get locked, the original poster cannot easily view the reason (if it exists). This may be a small reason why so many dud threads continue to pop up.
However simply appointing more BB admins is not the answer either.
I do think that BBMins could do with deleting some rule breaking threads, instead of locking them the majority of the time, especially if that user has made such threads previously.
It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.
@satsuki If you mean create a whole new Admin job simply to "watch posts", then your out of your mind (please don't take offense, no other phrase would come to mind). That's far to narrow of a duty to be a job. Not to mention, if they can only watch the posts, they'd have to alert BBMins to the offending post(s) for anything to be done about them.
Now, if you meant that Danny should hire more Bulletin Board Admins (it doesn't look like you did), but I don't know if he'll be doing that anytime soon since the current BBMins are mostly on top of things (Why is Limxzero not a BBMin at least?)
