OK, so the situation with last year's SDK Quilt is complicated, and I'm obviously still trying to figure out how to handle that whole mess. HOWEVER, time does not stop moving just because I messed stuff up last year, and so while I'm trying to figure out how to deal with last year's quilt, I still need to make sure that I don't mess up this year's one.

Anyway, it's that time of year again: Member Appreciation Day is almost upon us. It is a time when y'all here on Paint write special messages of appreciation to other community members and send them to me (preferably via DM), and then on September 15th—AKA “Member Appreciation Day”—I will post all of y'all's messages of appreciation in a special blog for everyone here to see!

Many people choose to write a single message towards the community as a whole to express how much they appreciate them. Others (like myself) choose to write a ridiculous number of messages to every single friend of theirs on this website that they can think of. Basically, you can send as many or as few messages as you want to as many or as few people as you want, and whoever you wrote your messages to will likely appreciate that you did so regardless.

As in years past, there will also be a chatroom event on Member Appreciation Day, which will take place at at 19:00 EDT (-4 GMT) on September 15th. For those of you in other timezones, that should be 16:00 PDT, 17:00 MDT, 18:00 CDT, and 0:00 on September 16th for those on London time.

As for the SDK Quilt this year, I'm going to do something that might be a bit controversial and go with a religious theme for this year's quilt.

What do I mean by a “religious theme” exactly? Your square must have a motif related to some religious belief. Whether it's a Christian theme, an Islamic theme, a Jewish theme, a Buddhist theme, a Hindu theme, a Satanic theme, or a theme pertaining to any of the myriad of “pagan” religions out there ranging from the Norse pantheon to the Egyptian one to the Japanese one, any religious belief—including fictional ones—is fair game.
(I can see all of the PSG and Helluva Boss fans having a field day with this one, lol!)

Obviously, things that are blatantly disrespectful or hateful towards the religious beliefs of others will not be accepted, and for all of you atheists and agnostics out there, yes, an atheism or agnosticism themed square would be perfectly acceptable as well.

Submissions for this year's SDK Quilt will be accepted up until December 31st this year. I've had difficulty getting people to submit enough squares for the quilts in the past, but hopefully this year's theme will cause a bit more interest in it, lol!
(At least, that's the idea, anyway.)
