OK, now I know this will be controversial, but as you all know, last month saw the release of of the all new PlayStation Move controllers, which comprise of the Move Controller (wand) and the navigator (left-hand controller), all tied into coordination with the PS Eye camera. I know what you're thinking: they all mirror the wii, don't they? In fact, they do, but with slight differences.
1.) PS Move vs. Wii MotionPlus: These two are generally on par in terms of motion-sensing capabilities and are nearly identical. They are similar but different in design and functionality (e.g: Wii Motion+ includes gyroscopic device; PS Move utilizes camera recognition). Additionally, it also includes a wriststrap for safety purposes, just like a certain controller we all know. One of the most critical problems between the two controllers could stem from the price difference. A Wii MotionPlus controller will only cost $40.00, but a PS Move controller will cost you $10.00 more ($49.00)! This may be because the PS3 offers more powerful technology than the Wii (e.g: better graphics and hardcore gameplay), but the high price may concern those who are interested, especially before tax time. However, it has been noted for more precise control than than the Wii MotionPlus in some minigames and actual games (from GameSpotâ„¢, so perhaps the higher price is necessary. (Scores: Wii MotionPlus = 8.5/10 ; Playstation Move controller = 8/10)
2.) PS Navigation Controller vs. Wii Nunchuck: Alright, now these two look VERY similar, with notable differences on facial buttons. They both have analog sticks, but the Navigator controller utilizes the X and O buttons, directional buttons, trigger buttons, and the center PSI button. Again, there is a $10.00 price difference (Nunchuck: $19.00 vs. Navigator: $29.99). However, it should be noted that the Navigator has been so far found unusable and unnecessary in terms of gameplay, but merely for scrolling through the PSX menu. (Check Pt.II)
