I'm sure that many of you know of the WiiSpeak peripheral, a microphone used to communicate with other Wii users online depending on what games you play (ex: Animal Crossing: City Folk). However, I have recently found out that this peripheral has seen lower and lower sales in the past few months, up to the point where the microphone can barely keep an audience anymore. Now the new Wii Headset is coming out, this may be the final iron nail in the WiiSpeak's coffin, and website retailers such as Amazon have recently discontinued sales of the device. In a way, it seems as though the WiiSpeak was fun "toy" that could only last for so long, but copared to the more advanced bluetooth headsets of the Wii's console competitors (Xbox 360 and PS3), it would seem that WiiSpeak may have been an entirely unnecessary and uneven device altogether, a waste of good time, money, and management. Hopefully, the new Wii Headset will be a better successor to WiiSpeak and bring back fun online communication to the Wii console once more.
