High voltage software, developers of the Wii exclusive FPS "The Conduit" are developing a conduit game for the 3DS, since they got their hands in the 3DS dev kit, which includes 3 units among the all the dev software (similar to that 3DS unit stole at the chinese factory, remember?) they were able to take a detailed look on the 3DS specs
The image tells everything alone: The 3DS has more RAM than the Wii, and 96mb isn't all, you can ask yourself: If this Nintendo 3DS is part of the dev kit, then we understand 96mb was left for games, where is the operating system RAM?
I answer: It is logical, that nintendo put a single 128mb module and left 96mb for games, while 32mb was left for the operating system (and browser! which is a lot!)
The Wii has 88mb RAM.
Thats all we know so far, alongside with the battery power, 1300mAh (your DSi has 880mAh).
Now Lets hear out what high voltage software said about it:
“In some ways, it’s even more powerful than the Wii. The amount of power dedicated to the small screen opens a lot of possibilities, and the shading and texture ability is superior.”
“From our internal testing we have been incredibly surprised at what the little system can do. From a strictly visual point-of-view, it is impressive. We are able to pull off many advanced lighting and texture techniques much more easily than on the Wii. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a cost to doing them, only that they can be done more easily. We do have 3DS kits, we are working on a number of different ideas, and we are definitely excited about what this system means to the industry.”
They did a good job with Wii's Conduit, making awesome graphics for a system flooded with bad critics, mostly from HD twins fans.
Its true Developers must work harder for systems like the DS and Wii, the dev cost is cheaper than developing for the xbox and PS3, because of that some think they can make a quick game and don't put much effort on graphics because it hard to make good content fit in a certainly "limited" hardware, compared to what we see on the Xbox and PS3, in order, that makes people believe thats all that console can do.
"Most third party devs with regards to all things Nintendo for about 4 years now. Take the Wii, a lot of third party devs will just ignore the Wii's TEV shader system because it's a bit different from what they're used to using, and then they just port PS2 games, leading people to believe that's all it can do... *sigh*" (from Milky Joe, member of CVG)
Heres metal gear solid snake eater compared to a MSG game for the PS2, we can now see how handheld graphics are different from console's, even if their quality are incredible high, we can see the same on the NGP, it can port awesome graphics but not like the PS3.
This last pictures show the difference between 2 handhelds, the new generation 3DS and the last generation PSP.
I guess thats enough to prove Handhelds and console are 2 different things ^^ and how a handheld experience may be different and amazing from a console, because the idea isn't only to bring a gaming experience in your pocket, but to make it different of that experience you have with a device attached to your big HD TV screen, and always impressing us with how many tech power is compressed in a few centimeters!
